The educational facilities provided by the inhabitants of Braidwood consistof three large two-story buildings. One of these is located in the old part ofthe town, one near the depot, and the other in the vicinity of the Eureka , like all other buildings of the city, are constructed of wood. Theyafford accommodation for at least one thousand pupils. One of the efficient adjuncts to the means of educating the youth and thepublic generally is the public library. In 1876, through the efforts of WilliamMaltaby, Superintendent of the Eureka Coal Company, $1,500 were subscribed.
