Solomon Islands people, 18th century. Historical illustration of a scene from a book about the voyages of James Cook, which took place between 1768 and 1780. This scene shows people from the Solomon Islands to the east of New Guinea. The voyages of James Cook did not visit this area, but did include stops in nearby areas such as north-western Australia and islands in Indonesia. Artwork published in 1835.
