A Japanese kai-gunto for navy officers, circa 1944 Blade shinogi-zukuri, chu-kissaki and middle torii-zori, no visible hamon and muji-hada. Kesho finish. Gilt copper habaki. Nakago with one mekugi-ana and sujikai yasurime, inscribed "502" and arsenal stamp "Toyokawa Navy Armoury." Sakura bronze mounts with traces of gilding. Tsuba with o-seppa and amida yasurime. Tsuka covered with same, sakura menuki and brown cotton wrap. Wood saya with two obitori and aisamenuri lacquer.
