. The Street railway journal . h great full-ness, yet along rimple lines in this work. ELECTRICAL SWITCHING EQUIPMENTOne of the most important develop-ments in the design of electrical installa-tions of large power stations operatingat high voltage has been in the methodsof isolating the electrical circuits. Inthe design of the switching equipmentfor this station the same care was exer-cised in the provision of masonry con-struction and soapstone barriers as wasfollowed at Ninety-Sixth Street powerstation, but the isolation is more com-plete, without sacrificing anything inaccessibility. Each main busbar iscompletely enclosed in a separate mas-onry compartment, and each pole ofeach individual circuit breaker is sep-arated from its neighbor by a marblebarrier. A characteristic feature of theplant in this particular is the groupingof the feeder circuit breakers into mas-onry cubicles, each cubicle forming adistinct unit, having in the interior cubicle a group bus connected to themain bus through a group circuit. VIEW IN ENGINE ROOM, SHOWING SWITCHBOARD GALLERY pipes running to central condensers, are of boiler plate, caulked breaker. The feeders are brought up to their respective circuittight, and auxiliary free exhausts are of cast-iron. The breakers in small groups, so that trouble cannot spread to amethods adopted for expansion and joining of certain sections, serious extent, as has occurred a number of times in other WJ
