Top: Louis IX, known as St Louis (1215-1270), King of France from 1226, and the crusaders, after being defeated by the Saracens at Mansourah, retreating towards Damietta. Many prisoners taken by the Saracens, including Louis and his two brothers. He was ransomed for 400,000 livres and the city of Damietta in 1250.
