Old-fashioned factory shed with with a deep green facade on a blue sky, now used as a theatre of Vigentino, in the southern suburbs of Milan, Italy

Old-fashioned factory shed in the southern suburbs of Milan, Italy. In this area of the city of Milan, in 1978, the well-known Italian photographer Gabriele Basilico (1944-2013) shot many black and white pictures for his photobook "Portraits of factories". The aim of the book was to measure the space and capture the particular architectural style of industrial buildings on the outskirts of Milan to give them an aesthetic dignity that can be perceived through the relationships between light and shadow that draw the volumes, shapes, space and its extension. The book is still considered a great classic of Italian architectural photography.
