Forensic presumptive blood test. Image 5 of 5. Forensic officer holding a swab used in a Kastle-Meyer Presumptive Blood test. This test is used to verify if a residue is blood or not. The chemicals used change colour when they come into contact with blood. This swab shows a positive result, indicating that the stain is probably blood. DNA can be extracted from the stain and analysed and may provide evidence in a criminal investigation. For a sequence of images of the test, see H200/621 to H200/625.
