Vegetables Seeds Catalogs; Grasses Seeds Catalogs; Flowers Seeds Catalogs; Gardening Equipment and supplies Catalogs; Commercial catalogs Virginia Richmond. New and Desirable Vakieties and Seeds of Special Merit. 5 Livingston's New Buckeye State This is a new introduction, brought out by Mr. Livingston, who has originated so many of our valuable standard tomatoes. It averages at least one-half larger than the Living- ston's Beauty, is also smooth and uniform, very prolific, and more abundant in fruitage than the standard sorts now in cultivation. It is unquestionably the heaviest croppei known. The tomatoes are borne in immense clusters of four to eight fruits, and occa- sionally ten large fruits have been found on a single cluster. In solidity and meatiness it has no equal, while in luscious quality none surpass it. The color is much the same as Livingston's Beauty, but of a somewhat darker and richer shade, and this, together with its large size and clear-cut outlines, makes it a very showy, striking tomato when dis- played for sale. In shape it is, when compared with its other proportions, a little thicker from blossom to end of stem than most other sorts. With the above valuable characteris- tics, not one of which has been over-praised, it must be apparent to all that the New Buck- eye State Tomato will immediately take its place in the front rank. Price per packet, 10 cts.; ounce, 50 cts.; | lb. $ ; pound, $6*00. NORTH CAROLINA SHORT STEfl COLLARD. This splendid new variety of Collards originated in North Carolina, and becomes im- mensely popular wherever known. It has a very short stem, large spreading leaves, and is very hardy, withstanding drought in summer and cold in winter. Heads up nicely in win- ter if turned down and the lower leaves covered lightly after frost. They should be turned down where they grow for best results. Its flavor and cooking qualities are the very best
