As far as can be ascertained, no Belgian or Holland importations have arrived so far, but it is a fact that these will surpass all previous ones in quantity as well as quality, espe- cially in the line of the various ever- greens, which have been the last few years in an ever increasing demand. The dry weather during the last three weeks enabled the landscape gardeners to take things a little easj'. Carpet and summer-flowering beds are now in the last stages of their beauty and with October the replanting of these, as well as of the foliage groups, with hundreds of of winter and spring- flowering plants, especially pansies, will begin, and with it the busy season for all those who help to make the Crescent City a veritable little paradise all the year around. Various Notes. P. A. Chopin's store on St. Charles avenue is always one of the main at- tractions on that aristocratic thorough- fare, and his business is constantly in- creasing. His entire stock is fine; he made especially big preparations for the coming season, being up-to-date in everything and a great optimist. Wm. J. Croft, one of our leading landscape gardeners, reports that in that branch of th© business more work is done at present than ever before, and he says there is a good outlook for the coming planting time.
