The armature core is composed of thin sheet iron discs held together by pressureof thrust plates upon the shaft, and ventilated by means of holes extending longi-tudinally through it. The gear and pinion are enclosed in a cast iron case which keeps them free fromdirt, and deadens the noise to a large extent. The bearings are of bronze; the armature bearing is lubricated from a grease cup;the axle bearing by a self oiling felt feeder. This motor is suspended by two wrought iron bars connected to the bottom half offrame with springs upon the truck connection. With 500 volts and 35 amperes the speed of the car axle is about 111 revolutionsper minute which corresponds to a car speed of about 10 miles an hour. This motor has not capacity enough for a 9 bench open car single equipment. See prints and plans on pages =#130 and =#131. There are 519 of these motors in the car equipment 130 THE GE-800 RAILWAY MOTOR-FORM B FRAME.
