One of the moves recently adopted was the uniformingof all interurban motormen in overall uniforms, so that they areenabled to make necessary repairs to cars or handle baggage. 7-FT. At the car houses there are waiting rooms for themen, which are provided with individual lockers, reading tablesand good sanitary toilet rooms. Despatching of interurban cars is done by telephone. The despatchers headquarters is at Canton, from which point heoperates cars on both the Canton-Akron and Canton-NewPhiladelphia lines. A portable box telephone, made by the GarlElectric Company, of Akron, is carried on each car. This maybe used at any point along the line by tapping the telephonewires by means of a long bamboo rod carried on the car. Atregular passing points the conductor carries the telephone toa pole box, where he makes a connect
