In 1878 he was appointed professor ofthoracic diseases in the University of Vermont, re-taining the i)osition for five years. In 1881 he wasmade physician to the Boston Dispensary, in 1880visiting physician to Carney Hospital, and in1888 physician to out-patients at the MassachusettsCeneral Hospital.
