This is recommended and illustrated by Scudder(foe. cit, p. 236).—Ed.] Fractures of the phalanges are usually produced bydirect violence, but may also result indirectly by a forceacting in the longitudinal direction of the phalanges; wethus occasionally meet with longitudinal fractures. Theyare also said to be produced in the distal phalanges by the Tab. 47 b.
