Spittelau waste treatment station, Vienna, Austria. This power station uses the process of incineration to produce heat and electricity. Incineration is a waste treatment technology that involves the combustion of organic waste materials. It converts the waste into ash, flue gases, particulates and heat, which generates electricity. All pollutants are removed from the flue gases before they are released into the atmosphere. The power station was designed by artist and architect Friedensreich Hundertwasser.
