Wind turbine. This structure is used to generate electricity from the winds formed by the heating of the Earth by the Sun. Wind turbines are an environmentally-friendly source of energy, as they release no toxic waste products and do not rely on a limited resource for fuel. This is a Vestas wind turbine at St Genou, Indre, France. The St Genou (Les Rochers) wind farm consists of 6 Vestas V80/2000 turbines, each generating 2000 kilowatts of power. The 80-metre-wide rotors are mounted 100 metres above the ground. They were commissioned in September 2010.
