German book on the comet of 1664-5. Title page of 'Cometologiae libri tres' (1665) by German astronomer Friedrich Muller (1630-1667). This comet, shown in the skies above a city, appeared in November 1664. By December (left) it was one of the brightest comets of the time, reported in publications across Europe. It reappeared (right) in late December 1664 and January 1665 and was last seen in March 1665. Modern astronomers have designated the 1664-5 comet as C/1664 W1. This book was published in Giessen, Germany.
