'Plan D'Amboine, tel qu'il étoit en 1718 / Platte-Grond van Amboina, zoo als het was in den Jaare 1718'. Artist/engraver/cartographer: Jacques-Nicolas Bellin/ Jakob van der Schley. Based on a chart contained in 'Oud en Nieuw Oost-Indiën' by François Valentyn. Provenance: From the Dutch edition of Atlas de "l'Histoire Generale des Voyages", by Antoine François Prévost (the Abbé Prévost). Type: 18th century copperplate antique map plan. A decorative plan of the town and port of Ambon on the island of the same name in the Moluccas (Maluku) or Spice Islands. At the time the map was made, Ambon was part of the Dutch East Indies. The key on the left hand side identifies 41 locations. A compass rose in the lower part of the map orients the map as facing towards the south east.
