The exhibit barns surrounded the stock forum or show ring, but thedairy cattle building stood apart, so that its product could not absorb anyof the odors from the other parts of the section. However, there was littledanger of that, inasmuch as the whole place was kept perfectly clean, andmoreover the magnificent herd of 125 Holstein milch cows kept here bythe Carnation Stock Farm of Seattle was milked by machinery and the milkwas never exposed to the air. Mr. J. N. Oilman of San Francisco, repre-senting the James Manufacturing Company, finally prepared the plan forthe dairy barn, inasmuch as dairy equipment was in his line of work. ^lAl.
