Carn Menyn outcrop of distinctive blue-grey dolerite on Mynydd Preseli, One of the possible sources of 'bluestones' used in the building of Stonehenge

Looking south east over Carn Menyn outcrop of distinctive blue-grey dolerite on Mynydd Preseli, used to make Neolithic axes. One of the possible sources of the ‘bluestones’ used in the construction of the earliest phases of Stonehenge. Practical experiments showed it is possible to move large stones from here by sledge and rollers, and raft by sea & river to Stonehenge (135 miles as crow flies).
