The City of London is a global financial centre; its skyline has changed dramatically over recent years. Londoners have nicknamed many of the new skyscrapers. Here we see the Gherkin, Cheese-grater and Walkie Talkie. Some buildings, like Sir Norma FosterÕs Gherkin (30 St Mary Axe), are widely admired. However, the Walkie Talkie (20 Fenchurch Street) is derided in equal measure because of its ungainly shape and habit of frying passers -by with reflected sunlight during the summer months.
