In the Somali zebra there are sometimesfourteen cervical stripes extending into the mane, butjudging by the width of some of them a considerableamount of blending has evidently taken place. (Fig. 24, ). Between the shoulder and croup stripesin the skin figured (Fig. 24) there are twenty-five stripesrunning at nearly right angles to the dorsal stripe.
