After that time the baking process continueduntil the following morning, when a new record wasinstalled on the temperature indicator. The material inthe oven, however, was not removed at that time, and arecord of the temperature in the oven after this time willbe found on the succeeding INTERIOR VIEWS OF OVEN SHOWING ARRANGEMENT OF The effect that the quantity of material in the oven hason the time taken to cool and heat it to the temperaturelimitations of the thermostat is shown by a comparison ofthe chart before and after 2 p. m. In the first part of thechart after the material had been placed in the oven it tookfifteen minutes to raise the temperature of the oven to248 deg. Fahr. During the next hour the automatic controlcut off the heat eight times and in the following hour seventimes. At p. m. the oven was opened and additionalmaterial was put in. The time that the oven was open wasinsufficient for it to cool entirely off. After the oven wasagain closed it took fifteen minutes to increase the tem-perature from 165 deg. Fahr. to 240 deg. Fahr. During thenext hour heat was automatically cut off seven times and inthe following period six times per hour. The heat supplied is used for raising the temperature ofthe work, oven walls an
