By the mind or soul (yfruxv) is meant thethinking principle, that by which I feel, know, andwill, and by which my body is animated. Theterms Ego, Self, Spirit, are used as synonymouswith mind and soul, and, though slight differencesattach to some of them, it will be convenient for us(except where we specially call attention to diver-gencies of meaning) to follow common usage andemploy them as practically equivalent.
