Killdeers were abundant,as they had been a month earlier at Crab Creek. It winters fromGuatemala to northern South America and though it reaches northern Floridain late March, it moves northward so slowly that it is the middle of Ma}- by thetime it has traversed the thousand miles thence to southern Maine.
