Biosensor research. Researcher holding a CM5 biosensor device developed by Biacore. This device is used to detect and measure a range of biological molecules and chemicals by their interactions with the sensor surface in a process known as surface plasmon resonance (SPR). The CM5 range of sensors consists of carboxymethylated dextran covalently attached to a gold surface. Biacore, part of GE Healthcare since 2006, was founded in 1984.
