Dr^sa is himselfattracted by the courtly school of the eighteenthcentury, and though painting with an entirelymodern palette he presents the idyllic charm ofthe fetes galantes or of the old Italian comedywith infinite wit and daintiness in his also occupied an important place onthis occasion, and in this branch M. Gir excelled in his studies of dancers ; M. Galantara gave proofof a very Rabelaisian spirit in
