Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad freight trains traveling east and west though the main street crossing in Emporia, Kansas. On an average day 87 trains including Amtrak passenger trains pass though the town. THe BSNF Railway is the second largest railroad network in North America second only to the Union Pacific Railroad it's primary competition for Western Freight. And is one of seven North American Class 1 railroads and has three transcontinental routes that provide high speed links between the east and west coast of America.
