Girl belonging to the Agaw people. She is standing in front of the house her parents are renting with two other families.

Originally, the Agaw are farmers living in different parts of the Ethiopian highlands. This girl is hailing from the Sekota region. Because of the drought, her family has left their home to come to Mekele ( the capital of the Tigray state) for doing menial jobs or begging. They rent the house behind with two other families ( roughly 2 euros per month). Despite being orthodox christians, Agaw who have migrated to Mekele are despised by the local population ( mainly orthodox christians) because they are very poor, illiterate, dirty.
