Hesaid, however, that the Magic was the largest vessel that everptissed through the Sound of Harris, and he was proud of havingtaken her through. We arrived off the Flannan Isles at 7 oclock , and got quiteclose to Eilean Mor, the largest of the group. This island rises almostprecipitously from the sea. The difficulty of access was considerable, PROCEEDINGS. 329 but fortunately the work in connexion with the erection of the newliglithouse was going on, and steps had been partly cut into the face.
