A Cessna 208B Caravan light aircraft donated to the Kenyan military by the United States Defence Security Cooperation Agency (USDSCA) refuels at Malindi airport. The aircraft was converted into an intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) platform by L-3 Communications and features a gyro-stabilized electro optical and infrared (EO/IR) camera as well as communication interception technology. Kenya has been embattled with terrorism threats and Islamic extremism throughout the coastal region, with townships like Lamu and Malindi which lie close to the Somali border being particularly affected.
