Ceramics factory. Workers using their feet to pound a mixture of clay and sand that will be used to make ceramic stoves. The ceramic stoves are more efficient than open fires, and produce less smoke, reducing diseases caused by inhalation of smoke. These men are working for the Keyo Women's Group, which is supported by the charity Practical Action. Photographed in January 2006 in Nyahera, near Kisumu, Kenya. For an example of a clay smoke hood used as a stove, see M935/294.
