Barrels labeled "vinegar, salt beef, rice, flour, salt, molasses, pickled onions and coffee" fill a recreated ration storage room at Fort Macon State Park in Atlantic Beach, NC. Fort Macon was constructed after the War of 1812 to defend Beaufort Harbor. The Battle of Fort Macon was fought there during March and April 1862.
