ECG trace in heart attack. Yellow electrocardio- graph (ECG) trace showing myocardial infarction (heart attack) superimposed upon a chest X-ray and heart (red). The lungs are coloured blue. The ECG trace shows the irregular electrical activity with a slight alteration at each heartbeat. This abnormal heart beat may be associated with any one or more of the four chambers in the heart. This can be diagnosed by the ECG trace. Heart attacks are caused by a cessation of the blood supply that feeds the heart muscles, causing death of the heart tissue. Heart attack usually occurs when a clot develops in the coronary artery of the heart.
