Paleobiology A plan to divide the department of geology into t^yo departments, mineral sciences and paleobiology, was approved on August 20, 1963, and the reorganization became effective on October 15, 1963. The diversity of disciplines m the old geology department made the parti- tion logical and desirable. The purely physical subjects of mineralogy, petrology, and meteorites are now separated from the biological sub- jects of paleontology and ecology.
