A flintlock pistol,Edward Nicholson,London,circa 1700. Two-stage barrel,octagonal then round,with smooth bore in mm calibre. The side of the barrel is stamped with English proof marks and an "EN" mark below a sun(Stöckel No. 7987). Lightly engraved flintlock with the signature "E. Nicholson"(badly worn). Walnut stock with engraved iron furniture. Open work side plate in the shape of a monster. Replacement ramrod. Iron parts have been cleaned with acid and are somewhat pitted.
