In Process restoration of WW II B-17G, "City of Savannah".

Under restoration at the 8th Air Force museum, the "City of Savannah" was the 5000th plane processed through Savannah's Hunter Army Air Force field on December 3, 1944. It then flew to England where it flew combat with the 388th Bomb Group, 583rd Squadron of the 8th Air Force. The B-17G Flying Fortress is being restored to its full combat configuration, including operating system and components, with the goal of making it the finest static B-17 in the world.
