At the distance of about fourmiles from its mouth it forks, the middle branch ofthree being called American Flat ravine. Near thehead of this ravine is a mound, which in 1858 acquiredthe name of Gold hill, to distin^^uish it from Goldcanon. This hill is a mile or more from Mount Da-vidson.
