Siberian Yupik Eskimos of Saint Lawrence Island are hunting bowhead whales to this day as subsistence food source. The Saint Lawrence Islöand Yupik are using their skinboats and sail for the hunt. The harpoon contains a black powder shell with retardation ignition that explodes inside the whale, killing it fast.
