The problemsarising then sent me searching through a mass offugitive material. One result was a determina-tion to prepare a model plan for an art theatrein a small American city. In the light of laterexperience I am duly thankful that I did not com-plete the plan with my then purely theoreticalknowledge. Instead I went to Detroit, where I saw fromthe inside the inauguration of activities at theArts and Crafts Theatre, and had to do, in asubordinate capacity, with all but one of thesubsequent productions.
