The Coastguard Rescue Helicopter from Lee-on-Solent, Rescue helicopter 104, Coastguard Rescue Teams from Bembridge and Ventnor, Bembridge RNLI, Sandown & Shanklin Independent Lifeboat, Isle of Wight Ambulance Service and the Police all attended attended the incident just after 8pm this evening. Sandown, Isle of Wight Friday 11 September 2015 Emergency Services involving the HM Coastguard, Police and and Isle of Wight Ambulance and lifeboats has taken place off the Isle of Wight this evening. The Coastguard Rescue Helicopter from Lee-on-Solent, Rescue helicopter 104 , Coastguard Rescue Teams from Bembridge and Ventnor, Bembridge RNLI, Sandown & Shanklin Independent Lifeboat, Isle of Wight Ambulance Service and the Police all attended attended the incident just after 8pm this evening. The scene in Yaverland Road in Sandown a poplar spot for tourists. Witness spoke of Police officers attending the incident. removing their uniforms and waded into the water in an attempt to rescue the man. Officers attempted to give CRP to a kayaker. It’s believed that the man set sail in the rubber kayak from a town on the Southcoast early in the day. The Coaguard rescue helicopter and the lifeboats conducted a shore side between Culver Down and Sandown Pier. Police officers recovered the half deflated kayak and loaded it into a Police Van. The deceased man was recovered by the Sandown Lifeboat and transferred to the RNLI Bembridge lifeboat. The Coastguard rescue helicopter and The lifeboats are conducting a search up and down the coast alongside the rescue helicopter.
