Wild turkeys prefer timber or woodland much more thanopen fields, this is probably due to their efforts to keep outof view of man. Nature has provided the Wild birds ofthis section (Maryland) with a brownish general appear-ance so that when in the woods they are very hard to seeany distance as the brown effect is almost identical with(Continued on page 49).
