We have noted a disturbing trend among some of the older farm buildings in Alberta. In recent years there have been an increasing number of barns which are no longer being used for their intended purpose. This inevit- ably leads to dissatisfaction and antisocial behavior. This problem typically occurs amongst the elderly barns who,no longer find- ing themselves useful, slip off their foundations and trundle away in search of a better life for their remaining years. Usually these neglected barns come to rest quietly in some deserted field where you can often see them mouldering away peacefully in their declining years safe from the possi- bility of Deing converted into garages or fertilizer storages. An alarming new tendency has developed which will require action although occurances are still rare enough to escape public awareness.
