Her day begins at She has her breakfast at seven and takes over from the Night Sister. Sister "Mac's" first jobs are to see that her patients are comfortable and to serve them with breakfast. After breakfast the ward is cleaned and tidied; fresh dressings put on wounds; patients prepared for the operating theatre; instruments sterilised; beds and linen changed. Sister "Mac" accompanies the on his visit noting his instructions. She goes to lunch at has a short break in the afternoon and goes on duty until the Night Sister relieves her. Back in the ward she talks to patients and wheels those who are well enough on to. the sun terrace or lawns. She serves tea. In the ward the routine continues.
