David Bryant powering down the first straight on Lake Washington's Chevrolet Cup course during Seafair. Bryant, driving U-16 'Hoss Mortgage Investors' finished a close second in the final behind Steve David's U-6 'Oh Boy! Oberto' boat. Bryant had actually beaten David in the heat running up to the final, in one of the closest finishes seen in Unlimited Hydroplane history. Seafair is Seattle's month long summer festival that begins with the Milk Carton Derby, where competitors build and race boats made from milk cartons, and culminates in the Chevrolet Cup Unlimited Hydroplane racing on Lake Washington.
