It appears from reports that onion sets are going to cost 10 cents per bushel more than they did last season, and it looks as thougli acreages are going to be extremely small. The W. W. Barnard Co., Chicago, is advertising in the publication known as Gift and Art Shop, published in New York, with the idea of selling bulbs to go with bulb bowls, so many of which are handled in gift sliojis tliroughout the country. One assortment goes to retail- ers at"$; another sells for $10. The steamer Kyndam, which reached New York from Rotterdam, November 4, brought large shipments of garden seeds from Holland, mostly consigned to for- warding companies. The Danish steamer United States, which arrived from Copen- hagen, November C, brought 385 bags for L. Daehnfeldt, 277 for T. Madsen & Co., thirty for the llenniiigs-narving Co., ^nd fifteen bags of garden seed and 674 of grass seed on order. The Quality Seed Store, of Stamford, Conn., long conducted by George B. Gan- non, has changed hands. The new pro- prietors are Frank liaumann, of Long Island City, N. Y., and John I. Sipp, of Newark, N. J. The firm will in the fu- ture ojieratc under the name of the Stam- ford Seed & Flower Co.
