09/06/21 If you think your lawn is suddenly growing quickly because of the warm weather, then spare a thought for these tractor drivers from Naylor agricultural contracting who are working 15-hour days to get grass cut and collected to make silage for farms across Derbyshire and Staffordshire. Pictured today, surrounded hawthorn blossom, near their base at Stanton, Staffordshire, the silage process begins each morning from 9am, or as soon as overnight dew has dried, and finishes after dark. Silage is a type of animal feed made from grass and other green foliage preserved by acidification and fermentation. It is fed to cattle and sheep.
