"SHABANI MINE" PETROL BOWSER - Local employees of the Shabani Mines in Southern Rhodesia have contributed �1255 towards equipment for a Rhodesian squadron serving with the in Great Britain. The gift has been utilised to provide a petrol bowser which - bearing an appropriate inscription - is now in service with a Rhodesian heavy bomber squadron of Bomber Command. Among the squadron's personnel are Flying Officer Plenderleith aged 21, with 34 operational sorties to his credit; Flight Sergeant Van Niekerk, aged 19, with 26 sorties, and Corporal Simpson, a fitter - all from Shabani,
