Spores subglobose, minutely echinulate, white, rarelyyellowish. (Fig. 62.) Every part of the plant contains numerous anastomosinglactiferous cells filled with densely granular latex or milk whichis usually white, but in some instances the colour changes on exposure Ladarhis 267 to the air; in a few cases the milk is coloured before its escape fromthe cells; it varies in taste from mild to intensely acrid, and is of aresinous nature,r.
