Nitrous oxide plumbing & pipework on the engine of a high performance modified Boy Racer car. A well known performance modification, nitrous oxide increases the oxygen content in the fuel / air mixture helping to create a more powerful explosion in an engine's combustion chambers, thereby producing more engine power and by default, more power at the driving wheels of the vehicle. Correct engine tuning (including delivery rates of petrol and engine timing) are critical when using nitrous systems however, to avoid costly engine damage or even destruction. Nitrous oxide has of course been made famous by the Fast and Furious series of movies.
