Paris Corsets, Eug̬ne Atget, 1912

Entitled: "Boulevard de Strasbourg, Corsets, Paris" photographed by Eug̬ne Atget, 1925. By the end of his life, Atget had made more than eight thousand photographs of Paris and its environs, one of the largest picture archives of "the city of light" ever created. He organized them into categories such as Interiors, Old Paris, Vehicles, and Petits M̩tiers (trades and professions) and sold them to artists and city institutions. While his principle clientele changed over time, Atget continued to frequent artists' ateliers and caf̩s until the end of his life, offering his pictures to those able to see their intrinsic worth.
